LicenseWatch Metering Active

The LicenseWatch Metering Active module gives the administrator the power to control software licenses, which are licensed by concurrent usage. This type of software licenses originates from the mainframe industry and made it possible to use an application on all desktops/terminals within the organization, but limited to only be executed by a specific number of users at the same time.

Software licenses procured under the terms concurrent licensing is steadily growing, as an additional license offering from most software vendors.

By licensing software on concurrent usage many organizations can save huge amount of money because the organization will only pay for the actual usage of the software.

In practices this means that the organization can purchase 15 licenses for a software application, but share the application on all desktops in the environment. When user number 16 is executing the application they have to wait until one of the 15 users have stopped using the application. Active Metering not only supports blocking of user no. 16 but also allows the administrator to monitor peaks within the actual usage of an application in the office hours.

• In combination with LicenseWatch Notification module, the administrator will get a notification if the number of concurrent licenses goes beyond the number of purchased licenses.
• LicenseWatch Metering Active will not work with LicenseWatch SMS Option. Microsoft Systems Management Server 2003 does not support the license type concurrent usage.
